The Ragdoll Breed

History of the Ragdoll

The first Ragdolls were first imported into the UK by....

The Ragdoll breed, as recognised by the GCCF, has the following basic patterns; colourpoint, mitted and bicolour. Colours include; seal, blue, red, cream, chocolate and lilac. The Tabby gene has also been introduced together with solid and mink colours, with the latter being recognised by TICA.

Chocolate & Lilac

The chocolate colour was thought to have been lost to the breed, but a breeding program and testing for the chocolate gene has successfully produced many litters of chocolate and lilac babies. These are no longer considered to be rare.

Traditional and Non-traditional

Ragdolls which can trace their pedigree to the 'Foundation' cats bred by Ann Baker are considered Traditional.

Other countries also imported from the 'Foundation' cats and agreed their own breeding programs in conjunction with their own cat registries. Some of these beautiful Raggies have since been imported into the UK and introduced new lines into our breeding program.
